7 Tips For Mastering Your Career

Career success or just moving forward in one’s career is only a matter of understanding and applying certain rules:

  1. Make a decision. It’s up to you how you see the job you do. It’s not true that there are no possibilities but it’s absolutely certain that nothing can change without your will and acceptance. If you are satisfied with your job and if you want more, you are the only one who can change this. But first you have to make a decision: Is this the path you would like to follow or do you desire to change your profession? Please don’t underestimate this decision because it should determine your life for a long time. What once decided, should be followed remembering that career is not a matter of weeks or months.
  2. Invest in yourself. Progress comes only from working on oneself and one’s skills. If you desire to move forward in your career, you need to get better than you are now, not for your employer or your customers but most of all for yourself. This means acquiring knowledge and improving skills in the field you have chosen. Invest in yourself and you should seen the profits soon.
  3. Stay up to date. The world develops every day and so need you. Don’t expect that what you know and how you do something will always be the best possible way. Career making requires modifying and adapting your profession to the current needs and development. You cannot allow yourself to stay behind the world.

Want to Become a Model? Make Sure You’re Not Too Skinny

In 2006, Luisel Ramos died of a heart attack after stepping off a catwalk. The twenty-two year old was told by her modeling agency she had a great career ahead of her only if she could lose some weight. So she subsisted on a diet of diet coke and green leaves for the months before she died. In response to this and other similar deaths due to malnutrition and anorexic related diseases, Madrid’s annual fashion show, one of the “Big Four” fashion capitals of the world, recently shocked the fashion world when it announced that models with a body mass index (BMI) of less than 18 would be banned from the catwalk. Your body mass index is calculated by dividing your weight in pounds by your height in inches. The normal, healthy BMI range is 18.5-24.9. Health and beauty are the images that Madrid’s organizer’s want to project, rather than “waif-like”. If you are considering a career in modeling, or are already a model, here are some tips for maintaining a healthy weight.

The keys to achieving and maintaining a healthy weight are simple: eating right and exercising. Now, I’m not talking about restrictive dieting where you never eat sugar or bread again. Nor am I saying you need to be at the gym for hours every day. For most people, thirty minutes of cardio exercise is sufficient to keep them at a healthy weight level. This could mean anything from a thirty minute bike ride to going for a walk. Find an energetic activity that you enjoy doing and do it every day for thirty minutes. Cross that off your list, on to the food.
